Clearing a Franklin lot or acreage: where we start
A grown-up lot in Franklin rarely needs one machine. It needs the right order. We begin with a walk of the ground to see what is under the growth, then cut it back, open it up and leave it graded so the next trade can get in. Our crew is two brothers, Josh and Mark Collier, working from Lawrenceburg. We take Franklin work for larger jobs, which in practice means acreage, whole-lot clearing and building sites rather than a single stump or a few shrubs.
Brush hogging up to 10 inches
The brush hog on our Kubota SVL 97-2 cuts brush, briars, saplings and small trees up to 10 inches thick. It is the fast first pass on overgrown pasture, fence rows and old field edges, and it lets us see the ground before we commit to a plan. It cuts above ground, so stumps and roots stay unless the job calls for the excavator. We do not mulch. The cut material is dropped where it falls and can be piled or loaded out.
When the excavator comes in
Where a building site, driveway or pad needs stumps and roots out, the Kubota KX057-5 does the digging and pushing, and the track loader gathers what is left. Material we cannot take safely, such as large trees, goes to an arborist first. We do not climb trees.

Rough grading and haul-off
After the growth is gone we shape the ground so water leaves it, fill low spots, and haul off what should not stay. If the lot is headed for a house, shop or barn, the next step is a proper pad; if it is headed for a driveway, see our Brentwood and core driveway pages. Stone or gravel for a base is sourced from the quarry and delivered to the site by us. We do not sell it.

Getting to Franklin from Lawrenceburg
Franklin is a trailer trip for us. A quick call usually tells both of us whether the job is big enough to make sense. We do not claim a local office, local crews or quick response times. We do claim honest quotes, and we show up to walk the property before we commit.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have a crew or office in Franklin?
No. We are based at 355 Tripp Road in Lawrenceburg and trailer our equipment to Franklin. We have no Franklin office or yard, so we say so up front and quote on site.
How far is it, and do you charge for the drive?
It is a trailer trip from Lawrenceburg, which is why we favor larger jobs here. We do not post prices. How travel is handled is part of the free on-site quote.
How thick can the brush be?
The brush hog handles brush, briars, saplings and small trees up to 10 inches thick. Anything larger we look at on site and tell you honestly whether the excavator can move it safely.
Do you mulch what you cut?
No. We do not offer mulching. A brush hog cuts and drops the material; we can pile it or haul it away.
Do you take down big trees?
We do not climb trees or do tree service. If you have large trees that need to come down, call an arborist first, then call us for the clearing and cleanup.
Can you grade the lot after clearing?
Yes. Rough grading and haul-off are part of how we finish a clearing job. For a finished building pad, see our Franklin pad and excavation page.
