What we sell, deliver and spread

  • Gravel: surface and base stone for driveways, pads, parking areas and low spots. Typical choices are crusher run (dense-graded aggregate) for a base that packs tight, and washed stone such as #57 for drainage. Ask what we have on hand for your job.
  • Rip rap: larger stone for culvert outlets, ditch lines and eroding banks.
  • Fill dirt: for building up a pad, filling a low spot, backfilling a trench or raising a yard.
  • Hauling: spoil, debris and brush loaded and hauled off in our dump trailer.

Delivery is one option. The better value is usually delivery plus spreading, since we can drop and spread with the skid steer in the same visit. If you only want a load dumped, say so.

Choosing the right material

Fill and stone do different jobs. Clean fill dirt builds elevation but turns to mud in wet weather, so it belongs under a pad or in a yard, not on a driveway surface. Crusher run packs hard and sheds water, which is what a drive needs. Washed stone leaves voids that drain, which is what you want around pipe or in a wet spot, but it will not pack into a driving surface by itself. Tell us the use, and we recommend a material that fits.

How much do you need?

Gravel is measured by the ton or cubic yard. A cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep, or 81 square feet at 4 inches. A 12-foot-wide drive 100 feet long at 4 inches deep takes roughly 15 cubic yards. Crushed stone weighs around 1.4 tons per cubic yard, and fill dirt varies with moisture. Order a little extra, since gravel packs down and fill dirt settles. Our gravel and fill dirt calculator does the math, and we will confirm the quantity when we see the site.

Delivery access and fill around trees

Tell us about gates and overhead lines, soft yards, septic fields and tight turns. A loaded truck can sink a lawn or damage a drain field, so we may dump at the edge and move the material with the skid steer. Keep fill off tree roots too: more than a few inches piled over the roots can kill a mature tree, so we hold the fill back or build a well around it.

Hauling off

We load dirt, brush and clean job-site debris into the dump trailer and haul it away. Please tell us up front what the pile contains, since hazardous materials, tires and similar items are not something we take.

What moves the price

We do not post a price list because the numbers move. The factors: material type and quantity; the distance from the source to your site; access for the truck and trailer; whether it is delivered only or spread; and haul-off volume. Free on-site quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell gravel and fill dirt or just haul it?

Both. We sell and deliver gravel and fill dirt, spread it as part of the job, and haul off spoil and debris.

What kind of gravel should I use on my driveway?

Most drives do best with a crusher run style base and surface that packs tight and sheds water. Washed stone is better for drainage than for driving. Tell us the slope and traffic and we will recommend one.

How much fill dirt do I need to raise a low spot?

Multiply the area by the depth in feet for cubic feet, divide by 27 for cubic yards, and add extra for settling. Our calculator does this, and we will confirm on site.

Can you deliver and spread, or just dump a load?

Either one. Most people want it spread, which we do with the skid steer in the same visit.

Can you haul away dirt, brush or debris?

Yes. We load spoil, brush and debris into the dump trailer and haul it off.
